Lets play with the Forces of Momentum as we Move into Dance. As we spread our shape and imagine our form to be hyper-spherical. We give our compactness air and we give wings to our play with gravity. How do we move over each other, on each other and with each other. Creating a constructive bubble of functional dance as we move through a landscape and offer each other a landscape to move on.

It’s not easy to define a good slackline posture – but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and together we might find ways to change things! This workshop will make you think about and focus on the way you move and use your body on a slackline, and will also provide a playful experience to change your behaviour on the line. Beginners will focus on the basics of what is important while slacklining. The advanced who think they have it already –  we will challenge you to do stuff you might not have done before, and trust us, you have a bad habit or two.

This flow workshop is based around the concept of fluent movements. We will work on keeping the movement sequence light, elegant, efficient and creative. It is a huge part of parkour and should be highly emphasized. Join in for a fun and creative workshop, playing with obstacles.

I remember when I first started to meditate and practice yoga asana. I got this instruction from so many teachers – sit still, and discover your sky-like mind. For years, I struggled with the busy-ness of my mind, and how uncomfortable I was in my body trying to sit still, and I just thought – what the hell are they talking about? As my practices deepened, so opened my experience of the Big Sky Mind that my teachers were talking about. And my capacity to ground deeply, into my body, which I now know is a scintillating seat of creative power. This workshop is all about how embodiment equals freedom. We’ll move to work out the knots and the tangles of our body-mind so that we can see what’s really underneath it all – indeed, a Sky of Freedom, inside of which rises a magnificent Ground of Creative Potency. Come and let’s live more fully together.

Lecture and practise:

This event will consist of a theory part and a practical part. In the theory part Theresa will talk about what natural running technique is and why this way of running is beneficial for your efficiency & injury rate. In the practical part of the lecture, Theresa will go through different drills and assessments that can be used to find the most relevant exercise for you to become a better runner and/ or a natural runner; whether that is mobility, stability, posture or strength. The event will give you a general idea on what natural running is but also teach you how to become a practicioner.

Climbing is fun, and fun is something we create together! But have you ever been annoyed when climbing with dudes telling you the beta; where you “just have to do like this”, then trying it out and finding it impossible? We are going to eliminate this completely with a girls-session, which of course is going to be cool, funny, crazy and inspiring.

If you can’t stay away from this awesome workshop you will have to be in touch with your feminine side at least for a few hours. 😉

So lets experience Haka from New Zealand.

Haka is a tool to overcome barriers, build self-confidence, encourage group sharing and participation and develop personal will power with a strong passion.

Haka is a message from the soul, delivered through controlled chanting and movement. Haka taps into your innermost feelings allowing you to live for the moment and perform in a convincing and powerful way.

“During the experience, we accept the group’s rhythm. This relies on each individual doing their best to synchronize their movements and chant with the others. When doing this we allow ourselves to open a channel to the group and share our feeling and experiences, contributing and at the same time receiving energy. Haka is passionate and may seem to provoke anger. However the opposite is true, Haka is about releasing your emotions in a controlled manner not developing or allowing anger”.

Explore a world of handstand. We will work with safe entrances, spotting techniques, alignment and basic positions, movement quality and more. We will talk about balance and the importance of body awareness and why it is important to adapt the technique to your body rather that the opposite. Expect lots of handstanding together with handstand pocket philosophy, funny anecdotes, myth busting and training tips.

A therapeutic flying workshop about the art of putting someone in the air and giving them an opportunity to surrender.

There are few poses that are as beautiful as a perfect lotus move. Static tricks require strength and grace, and when you perfect them, they are the go-to tricks when you are just enjoying yourself in the park on a short line. As a beginner we will work the most basic static tricks and the techniques behind these. As a more advanced slackliner, flow is the theme. We will work on more advanced static tricks and how to create a flow consisting solely of these.

This conditioning workshop is based around old-school quadropdeal movements (crawling) and games. It is a mix between the old and new ways of viewing conditioning, and since none is better than the other, both is represented in this workshop. Everybody is welcome!

Invoking the Supreme Fun – Intermediate and Higher Levels

“Let’s Play!”

Is life ever offering us anything but this invitation? But how often do we truly recognise that PLAY is what we are being asked to do? ‘Cause sometimes it seems pretty serious, doesn’t it? Not to diminish life’s great challenges, but it is truly a high yogic art to hear the call to play inside even the most difficult experiences.

Join me and let’s rock and roll with recognition of the Supreme Call to play. We move our bodies to some inspirational tunes, twist and dive and balance into some yoga poses, and invoke our capacity to dance with whatever life is presenting us. The wise are usually smiling – what’s their secret? Let’s see if we can lighten up and find out how to have that wise kind of fun – staying present to the Divine, and available to her Supreme Invitation.

The class deals with body alignment and lines in space, work of core by emphasizing the use of the weight and expansion to the extremities. We slowly raise awareness of the body’s potential through the warm-up, challenge ourselves with coordination practice and release ourselves in movement choreography. The class contains detailed flows and combinations of movements, recommended for those familiar with dance classes. Angelle & Pierre will teach and assist the class together.

For movement to turn into a flow, you need two qualities. You need to loose yourself fully in the movement, while calmly observing the movement. This sounds paradoxical, but in Indian philosophy we find this paradox at the heart of tantric thinking. In a 45 minutes lecture Simon will explain how these two opposites relate to each other. The lecture will conclude with a guided meditation in which we shall experience the philosophical ideas.

For people who are physical in their everyday life, and ready for some real movement and challenge. We will experience the mental state where we push ourselves to the limit. In this workshop we are going to work with the changes of quality that is inherent in parkour; from dynamic to controlled soft to explosive etc. We are going to play with efficient movement creative movement and figure out where those two meet. In this workshop you will learn simpel tools to create more freedom in your body.

Falling into Flight We will dive into the notion of expanding our internal perception of direction through softening our relationship to gravity and inviting buoyancy into the body. By doing so we can enjoy moving with lower impact and higher risk without fear of injury or stress.Moving through subtle rebounds, softly folding joints and sequential undulations can reveal for us ‘new’ or more nuanced pathways of movement. We will examine how the weight and momentum of our limbs can generate potential energy.

The workshop will be a moving lecture where we will explore our own bodies by feeling and moving.

BEGINNERS

The all-around workshop is for everybody who would like smooth introduction to the basic movements in the parkour world. It is especially suited for beginners. This workshop will satisfy the heart of curious and playful people, and is a great start-up.

Something happened a few years ago: it was like another dimension was added to slackline. Longline was suddenly not just the art of walking ever longer lines, but bouncing, surfing and static tricks entered the scene to revolutionize longlining. This is where this workshop picks up, and it will develop our thoughts of what a longline is and the possiblilities it offers. We will develop our understanding of all the abovementioned and also dive into mounting, exposure and complex surfing. Longline tricks are for everyone, including beginners – because a longline is what you decide is a long line.

What if all it took was just a little bit of courage and the willingness to look, feel and explore what exists beneath the surface of self-limiting beliefs? Who would you become, and how would you live once you stepped out of stagnation and into the direction of your heart’s wild and creative counsel? The work we’ll do in these workshops is whole-body, whole-heart and whole-mind oriented. By creatively and intuitively working with our whole selves, we’ll invite empowering change and transformation on all levels. We’ll explore the physical remnants of pain left in the body as memory — from heartbreak, betrayal, rejection, abandonment, loss, neglect and abuse, just to name a few. We’ll sit with self-limiting beliefs due to painful experiences — including, but not limited to, low self-worth and confidence, distorted body image, trust issues, shame, fear and guilt. And we’ll open up to loving ourselves, and this life, unabashedly and whole-heartedly. Come prepared to unveil your inner wisdom, to become empowered by your intuition, and to step into your own personal brand of beauty, magic, purpose and creativity.

The workshop is build around dance grooves of the hiphop genre. I have prepared a small choreography for the end of the workshop – but the main part of time we are going to investigate grooves, and learn how to make it a natural part of dancing. You will be challenged on your motor skills – like trying out the drums for the first time. Some times your feet just won’t play the rhythm your asking it to. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun and you’re going to bring home, a lot of Hiphop dance knowledge.

What you drink and eat is an essential part of the foundation for performance, both physical and mental. You can literally feed not just your body, but also your nervous system, brain and mind to perform and recover better and faster.

Umahro will tell you what to eat and drink, if you want to excel and be healthy in the long term as well. But without any pointed fingers or moralising. Just lots of ideas on what you could do, honest information on what unhealthy food and drink does to you and information on how your body and mind work.
Prepare yourself for 90 minutes of knowledge, fun, inspiration and “aha-moments”.

What do you need for bouldering? A pad, stone and your hands. So why not explore your neighborhoods for some bouldering? We will try to get a new view on the site we are at by seeking for boulders and cool movements!

Wutao is a contemporary movement art born from the fusion of a variety of different techniques: Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Yoga, dance, etc. The art of Wutao is based on building awareness of the primordial undulatory movement of the spine. This wave gets extended and amplified through the entire body, liberating the natural spirals that exist in all of our movements. As we breathe into this practice, Wutao becomes a dance, a physical calligraphy, in which deeper energetic and artistic pathways are revealed. Wutao was created in France by former Kung Fu world champion Pol Charoy and dance and yoga practitioner Imanou Risselard.

This talk is about how we can find more stillness, presence and inner calm, and also stay in that experience when we move ourselves. We let the tools of meditation and modern psychology help us to cultivate the ability to arrive in our bodies, observe and stay with sensation. In this way we can release the physical, emotional and psychological suffering that holds us back from our fullest expression, where we live in a flow. So welcome to hear more about and experience how flow and freedom can be more integrated in your movement practice and life.

How does one’s slacklining change when one is restricted in the way of, say; balancing with just one arm? Let’s explore our limitations!

Beginners will experiment with the sensation of slacklining with basic limitation to help them develop fundamental skills. Intermediate slackliners will experience limitations such as blind walking, no arm turns etc. The advanced will focus on combined limitations, such as no arms blind walking and blind surfing.

A fusion between playful vinyasa flow and therapeutic yin yoga – blindfolded. Get ready to face your fears and challenge yourself through playful sequences. Get lost on your mat. Allow yourself to loose balance. Awaken your senses. Trust.

In this house class you will experience your body bouncing into the magical universe of house, as the pounding off-beat in house music moves your body. We will go through some basic house steps and play with putting them together ending up with a choreo. We are especially going to go into the quick footwork and the ”jack” (a bouncing movement in the body). Both are fundamental for house dance. House dance started in the 70ties in Chicago in the nightclubs and spread to New York and Europe. The style has got a lot of inspiration from other genrés as samba, tap, salsa, African ect.

Brain Body Move – Practical application of neurology in movement practice. ”All that you have ever been and all that you will ever be is brain derived.”

On a very basic level your brain has two functions: the primary one is to keep you alive and functioning, the second one is to enable you to move. Movement is the only way you have to affect the world around you. In this lecture we will go into some of the neurology of movement in relation to both pain, movement and performance. The three governing systems that we will explore in a theoretical and well as practical way are the vision-, vestibular-, and proprioceptive systems.

Learn how to use your core-muscles to reach further

Perfect for strong bodies, tied muscles and fascia and for everyone willing to share a good and deep touch.

Longline is simple yet challenging. When longlining you eliminate the distractions and focus your attention solely on the balance itself. Longlining is about keeping focus and control of both your body, mind, breath and the slackline – and doing this for a long period of time as well. For some a longline might be 30m, for others 130m. We will explore and work on both the basics, mounting the line and taking your first steps, as well as the harder part, staying on the line and making it to the end – and perhaps back again!

Squeeze the lemon. The last parkour workshop is for everybody and involves some of the real life applied idea behind parkour. We will explore the sorroundings of Refshaleøen, and we will just keep moving. Moving from place to place, working on technical stuff, playing and sweating together.

A grounding practise. Together we will explore a sense of stability in union with the element of earth – creating stability, boundary and support for the body and mind to rest and rejuvenate. Expect no sweat, chilling with your homies and feeling yummy afterwards!

How do you deal with distractions? Can you describe how you build up concentration and what your focus feels like? What affects you mentally while you are on the line and how do we train this? We will test your ability to focus by distracting you from your usual habits and thereby build your awareness of mental aspects of slacklining – an aspect often undervalued. We will do this while you are preparing to get on the line, while you are standing and walking. Most of all we would like to get you hooked to standing 90 degrees to your normal slackline posture – expose yourself!

A framework for the movement generalist: How to choose the right practice in the eternal search for physical and mental freedom

The class will focus on how a climber moves on the wall, and how the hold and angle of the wall changes the movement of the climber.

So lets experience Haka from New Zealand.

Haka is a tool to overcome barriers, build self-confidence, encourage group sharing and participation and develop personal will power with a strong passion.

Haka is a message from the soul, delivered through controlled chanting and movement. Haka taps into your inner most feelings allowing you to live for the moment and perform in a convincing and powerful way.

Try to spell Move Copenhagen backwards in your head as you read this… It is not so easy, right? Humans are accustomed to learning in sequences and patterns. That’s why we lose rhythm, speed, stability and confidence when we try to learn what we already know in reverse or in the opposite way. We will offer you a guiding word and helping hand while you take this step. We will challenge you to go back to scratch your weak side. This workshop will focus on what you know, no matter how much that may be, and then switch it up.

Parkour is about accepting and overcoming obstacles. In this workshop we will provide you with techniques to do exactly that. Learn how to pass concrete walls in a dynamic and controlled fashion.

Drawing on simple therapeutic techniques and playful ways to bring greater self-awareness into the practice. We will look at ways beyond the traditional asana practice to gain a greater sense of our bodies in space, and make the practice of yoga come more alive.

This workshop will be the perfect party starter for Move Copenhagen’s annual saturday night. We will groove to good music, make a rutine and play with the elements, the quality and let go of all boundaries and limitations. Just have fun and dance!

Workshop 2: Find yourself as a mover: With many external influences, it can be difficult to figure out which Dancer / Mover you are. Instead of your own personal movement/style, you can become a chameleon that fits anywhere and nowhere. At the same time, the question of what your personal style is becomes more and more difficult to answer. In this workshop, we will use specific tools and steps-templates to examine what kind of mover you are, and what your personal styles/movements are. Instead of trying to imitate others, we cultivate the unique styles, and make it grow.

We put the body under a microscope! But forget all about anatomy and physiology. Our focus will be the very special ability of the body to perform, express and communicate – and how this is essentiel for our succes in forming relationships with others. The body culture is mainly dominated by ideals of the perfect body and our ability to be efficient – but we investigate another perspective; How we read another person by their actions and the intentions that created the actions. The workshop will take a phenomenological perspective on communication of your body – but not through examining “rules of body language”. Through physical activity, exercises and reflection we will explore the performing and communicating body. You might even get to know yourself and others a little better?

(You can participate in all kinds of clothes, but we will be active during the lecture)

When should you go static and when is it better to climb dynamically?
